Yoga Yoga Testimonials

Yoga Yoga Student Testimonial of the Month:

"After a deep relaxation class this past week, I was moved to write thanking each and every staff member I've encountered at Yoga Yoga. Whether answering a question, teaching a class, or greeting me, you all have shown such positive energy, warmth, respect, and kindness. I joined this month and this is my very first experience with yoga. I love it!

I try to come to as many classes as I can, and it is very rewarding for me. I joined as a part of a desperate struggle to lift myself from a deep depression which left me hospitalized in the spring, and it has proved to be one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I sincerely thank each and every one of you for making that possible. Yoga is rapidly becoming part of a daily routine for me, and it has been a wonderful tool to help me be at peace with myself. It is because of you. All of you, and your willingness to help. Again, I thank you. I cannot express how deeply my experience at Yoga Yoga has impacted me."

- Yoga Yoga student, June 2010

If you wanted to inspire someone to try yoga, what would you say? What inspired you?

• "Come to class to be renewed. At the end of a yoga class, it's like a fresh start to whatever you're facing on your to-do list. There is an ease and confidence that follows...topped off by a soothing cup of tea. I used to go to therapy...now I go to Kundalini class. Very similar results. :-)" -Laura

• "I was just curious when I started practicing yoga, but if I wanted to inspire someone today I'd probably say that as a woman approacing 40, I've never felt better." -Ilene

• "Yoga didn't just help me heal and strengthen my body, but it saved my sanity and totally transformed my life. Each step on the path of yoga inspires you to take two more steps." -Angela

• "It's easy to start. They will help you through the first classes." -Linda

• "In our fast-paced, overly competitive world, you need to take time for yourself and relax. Yoga, in all it's myriad forms, can help you do this." -Melissa

• "It has changed my life!" -Barbara

• "I feel a lot better--physically and emotionally. One person who works with me says my posture has improved and another says my skin looks great--no prompting on my part." -Linda

• "Just go once, you'll be hooked." -Yoga Yoga Student

• "The sense of balance and calm it brings emotionally and physically. It also helps me make it through normal life with far less stress, which carries through into how I treat others." -Alicia

• "My mother started doing yoga 15 years ago, at the age of 50. When I attended one of her Iyengar style classes, I realized this was a serious workout. And here was my mother, star pupil! A 65 year old woman doing 65 sun salutations to celebrate her birthday is my inspiration." -Andrea

• "Yoga provides me a much needed dedicated time to cultivate my inner peace and allows me to go out into the world centered and refreshed." -Susan

•" It is the only exercise I have ever actually enjoyed! Yoga makes me a better person (or, better stated, yoga brings out the best in me!)" -Barbara

• "I started taking yoga classes because I had heart surgery, my massage therapist strongly encouraged me to go to Yoga Yoga, and I knew I needed to make a lifestyle change. I have attended classes regularly for over two years, and I can confidently say that my yoga practice has had a profound impact on my life. I continue to realize a growing influence each year." -Bobbie

• "Yoga balances mind, body, and spirit. Practicing regularly teaches you to be calmer and patient. Yoga has also helped me to be more acceptant of my body and my abilities. It has also helped to be acceptant of my limitations and not to be so competitive and judgemental." -Cindy

• "It's a beautiful gift to give to yourself and extends out to those you love." -Dana

• "It's the best anti-aging concoction out there. It is also the best health insurance plan you can buy, considering that preventative medicine is the best medicine." -Dinah

• "Not only is it by far the best method I have found to maintain a shapely, toned, vibrant and radiant body (because it loves the brain, organs and glands as well as the muscles) but a magical thing happens when I practice regularly. I become clearer, happier, and more faithful and determined." -Elizabeth

• "I first tried yoga because I wanted to find a way to increase my flexibility and to relax. I have found that in yoga, but I have also found a fun way to challenge myself physically and mentally. I have increased my strength and discovered an ability to meditate I never dreamed I had. It's a rewarding practice that continues to teach me things about myself." -Emily

• "I had the full experience of completing the Yoga Yoga Teacher Training Program and I would encourage others to do the same thing because they will get so much more from their experience than they'd ever get from only going to practice class." -Greg

• "Yoga brings harmony and peace to your life." -Gretel

• "I got into yoga to be more flexible but it has changed my life in so many other positive ways". -Heather

• "Don't have preconceived notions about what yoga is - try it and see what you think." -Jacqueline

• "Yoga is both challenging and relaxing at the same time. It really makes you feel great!" -Holly

• "I had practiced yoga at home, years ago, when there weren't any studios in my area. I rediscovered yoga through a friend, who suggested it as a way to handle stress, and I was convinced after my first class and hooked about six months into it. Yoga has centered me, moved me toward living in the present, firmed up my middle-aged body, lessened my stress-related ailments (TMJ, IBS) and heightened my attention to my individual body parts. I have encouraged everyone from total strangers to my own children to practice yoga, and I absolutely believe the best place to practice is a good studio." -Jan

• "Yoga has really made me feel better--physically, mentally, and spiritually. It gives you practical techniques for making life better." -John

• "Yoga can make such a difference in your body, how you see your body, and how you experience the world. I tried yoga for the first time many years ago, inspired by a Chopra book, but I didn't really get into it until I had a shoulder injury and was exposed to a yoga class at a workshop. It was the only thing that I had tried that alleviated the shoulder pain, facilitated the healing, and prevents me from feeling shoulder pain." -Karen

• "Yoga helps be with stress and allergies. I was first inspired by general advertisements for yoga which brought me to Yoga Yoga. After sticking with yoga for about six months I don't take allergy medicine any more". -Yoga Yoga Student

• "It feels good to make a commitment to doing something healthy and beneficial for yourself. You need to make the time in your life for what's important and what's important to me is lowering my stress level, tuning into my body and heart, and taking care of myself for the long haul of life ahead of me." -Katy

• "The changes that yoga has had on my life are unimaginable." -Kim

• "I began yoga at a critical point in my married life and personal life. My husband was going through a difficult battle with an aggressive cancer (the second cancer in 14 months). In order to support him I knew I had to find something for me to focus on besides his illness. Your Hatha Beginners' series was perfect. I also attended gentle and restorative sessions. My husband successfully completed his chemo therapy early summer but after a lengthy summer vacation I am back in classes again. Along with the beginners' Hatha, I have now moved on to Kundalini and I love it. I cannot imagine yoga not being a part of my life." -Yoga Yoga Student

• "Yoga totally transformed my life. I am less stressed out and much more strong and healthy. Give it a chance to see what it can do for you"! -Kim

• "There are lots of different kinds of yoga, so don't assume that if you try one and don't like it that yoga is not for you. Take a sampling of classes and instructors." -Laura

• "I felt more calm and focused when I first started practicing, and then over time, I noticed that the little things that used to bother me seemed so much easier to handle, and anytime I feel frustrated, especially toward someone else, instead of arguing, I rememeber to breathe." -Libby

• You can experience yoga on many levels. You can benefit from the physical practice and decide if it is something in which you want to totally immerse yourself. Many of the postures are things you might have done in the past and didn't even realize it was yoga!! You do NOT have to be flexible; there are adaptions to the postures and no one will push you farther than you can comfortably go. -Lora

• "Addressing my health and spirit was a high priority for me when I started my yoga practice one year ago. My back suffered some chronic issues that have been much alleviated by my yoga practice". -Melissa

• "Like all physical disciplines, you have to stick with it. The first class may be magical, but please give it at least 16 weeks so that your body (and mind) crave it. A personal friend's long term relationship with yoga encouraged me to investigate, but having loving teachers at Yoga Yoga was the inspiration to keep me going each week." -Melissa

• "I was extremly stressed out due to work and work/life balance. I've only been practicing yoga since August - but it has changed my life. I am more balanced (less grouchy) at work and I'm kinder and gentler with my husband." -Peggy

• "It made my self esteem issues regarding my body simply disappear, and it really helps with stress." -Sara

• "When I first started, I was pretty stressed out and I didn't even know it. I had this discomfort that I couldn't describe clearly yet I knew I couldn't take deep breaths. With Kundalini Yoga I slowly began the process of unwinding and discovering how my breath was related to my inner discomfort and outer sources of stress. Then with meditation a whole new world of inner growth began. It wasn't always easy as old hurts and pains arose and left, but what kept me going was the dicovery of new levels of happiness and peacefulness that I could not have even imagined. And that is what still keeps me going after almost 20 years of practice. The remembrance and experience of that simple inner bliss." -Sat Nam Kaur

• "I can say that I always feel better after practicing yoga at Yoga Yoga. I am more centered, feel more in touch with my body (and feel taller!). I also love sharing yoga with my ten-year-old daughter. I think all girls in our culture should learn to be comfortable in their bodies." -Shirin

• "Yoga will improve your health and improve your outlook on life." -Susan

• "It helped me reconnect with a part of myself that was still very much a part of this world, but not so affected by it. I felt calmer and quieter and more kind. Not only did yoga help me feel better, but I think it helped me be a better wife, friend, co-worker, etc." -Yoga Yoga Student
