"The Science of Yoga: A Resource for Health and Wellness Practitioners" is a new speaker series at Yoga Yoga aimed at educating health and wellness practitioners about the science and value of yoga. The series, which features experts in the health and wellness fields, will focus on the latest research studies regarding yoga and will address practical applications of yoga for conventional, alternative, and complementary medicine providers. In addition, speakers will discuss the science of yoga and how, as a result, yoga benefits the mind and body.

The first event entitled "Yoga Mind, Clinical Mind: The Use of Yoga in Therapeutic Settings" will feature guest speaker Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., one of the nation's foremost researchers in yoga and meditation, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 at Yoga Yoga Westgate, 4477 South Lamar. The 45-presentation designed especially for psychotherapists will address yoga as a therapeutic modality for therapists. At the event, Gurucharan will present and hand out an extract from his forthcoming book, which consists of contributions from therapists and researchers in the field of yoga. This is an invitation-only event. Those interested in attending should contact Yoga Yoga at (512) 326-3900.
