Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to sign up in advance for a class on your schedule?

There is no need to sign up in advance since our classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. It is important to know that some classes are more heavily attended than others, and we do limit class size to a comfortable number. Students should plan to show up for class at least 5 minutes before a class starts. We highly recommend arriving at least 15 minutes ahead of class if the class is at a busy hour such as 6:00 pm on weekdays or 9:00 am on weekends. On your first visit you will fill out a new student registration form so allow an extra 5 minutes for the very first time you come to class.

How many people will be in my class?

Class sizes vary greatly based on the time of the class, the instructor, and the type of yoga offered. Classes can be a small as 2-3 people or as large as over 30 people. Generally our weekday 6:00 pm classes tend to be full classes as well as our weekend 9:00 am and 10:30 am classes. If you have a question about a specific class please feel free to call. We will be happy to help guide you to a class of which you will feel comfortable being a part.

How often should I come to class?

Ideally, one should practice yoga daily. The daily practice may vary and may take place in the privacy of your own home. In general, many beginning students find that practicing two or three times a week at first and then gradually increasing their frequency of practice works best.

Should I eat before I come to class?

Due to the emphasis on conscious breathing in yoga, we recommend avoiding eating at least one hour prior to class. Large meals should be given even greater time to settle and digest. Each of the types of yoga we offer focuses on various breathing techniques. For all the breathing techniques, the stomach (located right below the diaphragm) needs to be empty to avoid nausea and allow for the maximum benefit to be achieved from the breath.

Do I have to be fit and flexible to do yoga?

Yoga does not require that you be physically fit or flexible. On the contrary, yoga serves extremely well those people wanting to increase their flexibilty, strength, stamina, and muscle tone. It also works to improve the strength and productivity of many systems of the body such as the nervous system, lymphatic system, digestive system, and endocrine system. Can I come late to a class?

Yoga Yoga has a 5 minute rule.
