All you have to do is follow these two easy steps to begin your practice at Yoga Yoga. It's easy to start your first class and you do not need to know anything about yoga. The teacher guides the class, and all you have to do is watch and follow. Step 1 - Which class is right for you?To help you select your first class, first decide what style of yoga you want to try. Here’s a quick guide to the three major types of yoga we offer: Hatha Yoga … For flexibility, stretching, and relaxation. Kundalini Yoga … For energy, transformation, and growth. Ashtanga Yoga … For strength, balance, and movement. For more detailed descriptions of the styles of yoga that we offer, please see our Class Descriptions or talk to any of the front desk staff. They are familiar with all the classes and teachers and can help you make a choice. You may also want to try a Beginners Series. These Beginner Series in Hatha, Kundalini, and Ashtanga Yoga give you a good foundation for starting a class. You can take the Beginners Series later after trying a few classeseven experienced students enjoy these classes as they get hands-on attention and guidance. Step 2- Come On InFor your first class, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to register. (Or, Click here to download a registration form, fill it out at home and bring it with you when you come in!) Wear comfortable clothes so you can move and breath easily (or bring clothes to change into after you arrive). You can leave your shoes at the door since yoga is done in bare feet. Yoga is also best enjoyed on an empty stomach, so eat lightly or not at all for 2-3 hours before class. Also, it's best to drink water either before or after class but not during class. We have yoga mats and blankets for first time students to use free of charge. If you decide to do yoga regularly, you will want to buy your own mat or rent a mat for $1 per class.
