Mary (Guru Partap)

Mary (Guru Partap)

Mary (Guru Partap) loves starting each day with a Vipassana sit followed by simple Kundalini and Hatha practices at the beginning of each day. She considers herself a lifelong student of many yogas, including ayurvedic cuisine! She attended her very first Hatha Yoga class in 1988, at the Yogananda temple oasis, on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

In 1995 Mary began studies with Jeannine Parvati, the first yogini-author on Prenatal Yoga and Shakti fertility principles in the West, which continued over a ten year period of apprenticeship. In 1998 she found Hari Deva's Kundalini Yoga class in Pasadena, California, another phenomenal example of a teacher, and a powerful bridge for Kundalini-Shakti. When her teacher moved away, she continued studies with Tom Watanabe at the same studio.

Mary completed Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in 2003 with the dynamic guidance of Yoga Yoga's Guru Karam & Mehtab Benton, here in Austin.

She loves studying Sanskrit, and has begun training in traditional Nritya yoga dance with Amrita Choudhury. In 2008, Mary completed a rigorous 10 day Vipassana meditation course at the Southwest Vipassana Center - something recommended to her by her first Kundalini teacher many years previous but took time to come to fruition - and she says it is the best thing she's ever done for herself! All these roots flourish in Mary's intuitive teaching and private consulting.

Guru Partap's classes are rooted in Intuition as the primary and abiding inner teacher for each student's journey of Yoga.
